Halloween In August Across Alabama Is Too Much

It seems like we just finished celebrating the Fourth of July Holiday, with Labor Day approaching in just over a month, but many folks in West Alabama are already making preparations for Halloween. Wait, it's more than preparations; I'm seeing some Halloween displays and candy in some stores. Can we get through the Summer before we go Halloween crazy?

According to the National Retail Federation, celebrants spend an average of $114 per person on the holiday, with total U.S. spending reaching a record high of $113 billion. If we're gonna get into Halloween early, we should give you one good tip for the Halloween season.

Social media memes and posts anticipating Halloween began in early July, and while the holiday may still be months away, dedicated campers are already securing their favorite campsites for one of Alabama's most anticipated fall traditions. Preparations have officially begun for the 35th Annual Halloween Fairyland at Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park, where elaborately decorated campsites and family-friendly trick-or-treating draw thousands of visitors each year.

If you've never experienced Halloween at Tannehill, words almost aren't enough to adequately describe the scene. Fog machines, strobe lights, animatronics, multi-story set design, family and friends with big screens and BBQ grills, and thousands of pounds of candy all create a truly magical setting for kids and adults alike.

Campers who reserve sites before September 1st should remember current campground rules require moving to a different campsite every 14 days. That policy is suspended beginning September 1, allowing campers to remain at their chosen site through the Halloween season.

The park offers a variety of camping options, including improved sites with water and electricity, full hook-up sewer sites, and primitive campsites. Discounts are available for qualifying seniors, veterans, active military members, and guests with disabilities, although holiday weekends are excluded.

Because many campers create elaborate Halloween displays, popular campsites fill up quickly each year.  Park officials encourage guests to respect fellow campers while assembling elaborate displays and decorating for the season.

For many Alabama families, Halloween at Tannehill has become more than an event; it's a tradition that starts long before October 31 arrives.
