Winter Storm Watch Issued for North, West Alabama Ahead of Weekend System
Alabama sits just days out from a huge weather system moving across the southeast. This weekend is set to be a potentially severe one for Alabama.
According to the Weather Channel, the system will move from out west with “Snow, sleet, and freezing rain will increase by late morning or early afternoon in the Plains, including parts of Kansas, Oklahoma and northern and western Texas to parts of Arkansas and possibly as far east as the mid-South region of western Tennessee and northern Mississippi."
One of the recent updates on the impact to Alabama includes a Winter Storm Watch. The watch was issued for the northern third of Alabama ahead of possible impacts this weekend, including portions of West Alabama.
Ahead of the winter weather, many may be asking what they could do to prepare. Fortunately, Alabama came up with a list of things to do ahead of storms like these.
Charge Devices
Phones, tablets and battery packs so you can stay connected
Plan For Safe Heating
Use only heating sources designed for indoor use with proper ventilation — never use grills, generators or fuel-burning heaters indoors
Clear Outdoor Hazards
Secure loose items and park vehicles away from trees or power lines when possible
