During Black History Month, the final week of February is dedicated to celebrating Black Children’s Book Week, a time to uplift children through stories that reflect their lives while nurturing joy and pride.

To celebrate, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Eta Xi Omega Chapter is hosting a free family event to honor Black Children’s Book Week on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Tuscaloosa Public Library – Weaver Bolden Branch located at 2522 Lanier Ave, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.

“This celebration is designed to uplift Black children, promote literacy, and celebrate representation in books and children’s media,” said the press release. “Families can enjoy children’s authors, bookmark decorating, face painting, and a fun coloring station, all in a welcoming community space.”
