The problem these days is that a recall seems to be issued every other day in this country.

Yes, a recall was issued late last week for some frozen meals sold at Walmart and Trader Joe's.

I find that most disturbing because I've been on a bit of a frozen meal kick this month.

Now, comes word that multiple deaths and hospitalizations have occurred, and they are linked to the frozen meals.

In this case, it was a potentially deadly bacterium in the meals that has killed four people and put nineteen individuals in the hospital as of today.

Sadly, one pregnancy-associated illness resulted in a fetal loss, according to the Daily Mail.

The meals in question were produced by FreshRealm, a company based in New Jersey.

The USDA announced Thursday that Marketside Linguine with Beef Meatballs & Marinara Sauce, sold at Walmart locations in Alabama and across the USA, tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

The deaths reported are in Illinois, Michigan, Texas, and Utah.

Any food contaminated with this bacterium can cause serious and life-threatening infection known as listeriosis.

Fever, headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea are the typical symptoms.

These meals come in 12-ounce clear plastic trays and bear the codes EST 50784 and EST 47718.

Trader Joe's meal is the Cajun Style Blackened Chicken Breast Fettuccine Alfredo.

It has the code P-45288 and best-by dates of September 20, 24, and 27.
