Alabama Scenic Byway Named One of the US Most Beautiful Drives
Undoubtedly, the United States is covered with beautiful drives, drives where you can just take in the beauty of the area. Some of my best road trip memories are when we took the longer route.
Scenic byways offer interesting restaurants, obscure tourist attractions, and more. During one trip on a picturesque back road, I learned about cornbread salad. On another trip, we stopped at a roadside bonsai plant stand; I still wish I had bought one to this day.
Love Exploring has given us a gem of a list of their favorite America's most beautiful scenic byways.
Alabama's Scenic Drive Tops US Beauty Charts
The Alabama Coastal Connection ranks a top choice for Alabama by Love Exploring.
At around 130 miles long, it “showcases the best of the state's Gulf Coast, from quiet bays and wildlife-rich sanctuaries to immaculate white-sand beaches and historic forts,” said Love Exploring.
At Alabama's southern tip, five possible itineraries, like history, food, or nature, are tailored to your interests.
Love Exploring said, “The full route runs from Spanish Fort through Daphne and Fairhope via Magnolia Springs and Elberta to Orange Beach, along Gulf Shores to Dauphin Island, and finishes in Grand Bay.”
I’ve added this drive to my summer road trip bucket list.
