Alabama Wide Receiver Named to Paul Hornung Award Watch List
Alabama sophomore wide receiver Ryan Williams has been named to the Paul Hornung Award Watch list, according to a release from Alabama Athletics. Williams is one of 46 players on the watch list for the award, given annually to the most versatile player in college football.
Williams is entering his second season with the Crimson Tide after taking over as the Tide's top receiving threat during his freshman campaign. He caught 48 passes for 865 yards and eight touchdowns as a freshman last season.
The Paul Hornung Award is the second award Williams has been placed on the watch list for this offseason, being named to the Maxwell Award Watch List on Monday.
Alabama has had one Paul Hornung Award Winner in the program's history, with DeVonta Smith winning it in 2020, among numerous other awards he collected that season, including the Heisman Trophy.
Colorado's Travis Hunter won the award in both 2023 and 2024, playing wide receiver and cornerback for the Buffaloes over the last two seasons. Hunter also won the 2024 Heisman Trophy.
Williams was named first All-SEC honors and Freshman All-SEC honors from conference coaches in 2024.
