Following Alabama's dominant 28-14 victory over the Auburn Tigers to claim state bragging rights in the 89th Iron Bowl, Tide Redshirt Junior quarterback Jalen Milroe stayed to speak with the media.

When asked if the team took the game personally after Auburn Freshman Demarcus Riddick made bold comments to the press on Monday, alleging that Milroe isn't faster than the Freshman Linebacker and Ryan Williams isn't a star player. Milroe replied "The biggest thing we did was embrace how much this game means to a lot of people" as well as "It was important to get this win with so many things that took place with our football team"

With Alabama's quarterback scoring three of the team's four touchdowns on the ground and accumulating 107 rushing yards and 256 through the air while completing 18 of his 24 passes for one interception, Milroe made certain that the Tide was winning this one.

When asked what emotions Milroe was feeling when taking a final lap around Bryant-Denny after Saturday's triumph, the tide's two-year starting quarterback replied, "I wanted to appreciate the fans, because those are the people for whom we play every Saturday."

Milroe praised his teammates, saying, "I'm just proud of the guys that are in that locker room and proud of their fight, their commitment because it's easy to dwell and easy to give up but we don't have that." Milroe continued: "This is me speaking to the football team and I'm proud of y'all for the commitment and the resiliency and just constantly growing as a football group."

Alabama will remain undefeated at home for the 2024 season following the Tide's 14-point triumph over Auburn in the 89th Iron Bowl. When asked how he felt about the milestone, Milroe stated, "It means a lot because you know it's all about protecting your territory, which we don't take lightly." Alabama's last home loss was on September 9th, 2023, when they lost 34-24 to the Texas Longhorns.

A reporter asked Milroe about his thoughts on Deboer's performance in his first year as head coach of the Crimson Tide. Milroe responded, "I want to say this: I love Coach Deboer. I love his commitment, his resiliency, and him as a leader, and the shoes that he filled. He's always working his tail off to be the best coach he can be for our football team."

With tonight's victory, Alabama improves to 9-3, making Kalen Deboer one of the few Alabama head coaches since Frank Thomas in 1931 to win nine games in their first season with the team.

To finish Milroe's interview with the media, the Alabama quarterback was asked what his favorite moment of the year was, to which Milroe replied, "First game of the season, giving him the game ball." This was a 63-0 blowout victory over Western Kentucky to kick off the season, or what Milroe referred to as the "New Era" of Alabama football.
